royal cortège moved to the inexistent castle of
my Fortunato. I started to run ahead of the royal
coach, and when I met some farmhands who
were reaping the wheat, I ordered them to say
that those estates belonged to my owner, the lord
Fortunato. Running on without breath I ordered
the same to all the soldiers and shepherds and
woodsmen that I met on the way, and when the
king asked them who was their lord, they all
answered: “Fortunato is our lord, and he is the
owner of these estates!”
The castle, instead, I got by a stroke of luck.
When the royal cortège was nearly catching up
with me, I saw a solitary castle and walked in.
Some servants told me that their master had been
far away for a long time, and I ordered them too
to say that the castle belonged to Fortunato, who
