The same day, the Sultan married off the eldest sister to
the baker, the middle sister to the head cook, and he
himself married the youngest one, not without great
jealousy on the part of the other sisters. The Sultana
became pregnant, and when the time of giving birth
was near, the Sultan whished to assign to her a
midwife. The two sisters volunteered and begged him
not to forbid them from serving their sister the Queen,
who, not suspecting any ill will, seconded this wish.
