Canal, with the Sun King and his courtiers
playing naval combat. I suddenly stood aside
when a coach arrived to the gates: the coach
stopped before going in, and a lord dismounted
and said:
- Monsieur chat! Pardon: Madame chat!
He really was talking to me, and invited me to
get in his coach. I was uncomfortable, because I
was in such a bad state, but I acted nonchalant - a
cat can always look fair. Then I bowed slightly and
accepted the invite.
The man was Charles Perrault, the Architect of
the Sun King and his favorite storyteller. He told
me that his majesty loved fairy-tales, and that
