When his majesty demanded to meet Sir Pippo,
I pretended that some racketeers had cleaned out
his house, and left him with nothing, not even a
rag to clothe himself. So the king sent him one of
his suits, and my master was introduced to his
majesty like a true lord. The king then sent some
servants of his to Lombardy, where I had told him
that my master had all of his properties. So I ran
ahead of the king’s servants and ordered all of the
folks I met to say that their master was Pippo
Cagliuso. So they did, and the king believed that
he was indeed very rich. He gave his daughter’s
hand in marriage to my master with a rich dowry,
and we left for Lombardy. There Pippo Cagliuso,
following my advice, bought a mansion and
estates thanks to the rich dowry of his wife. Now
he was really rich, and even titled.
