his firstborn and heir to the throne. Then he went
off to Genova.
As soon as he was gone, Catarina wrote to her
father asking him to have a brigantine loaded with
furniture, servants and a housekeeper to be sent to
Genova. She also asked him to rent a house
opposite the royal palace and to wait for her there.
As soon as the prince departed, Catarina took
another ship, arrived there before the prince did,
and set herself up in the new house.
When the prince saw this beautiful woman with
all her jewels, wealth, and royal coiffure, he
couldn’t help but exclaiming:
- Holy Mary, she looks just like Catarina theWise!
And he sent a messenger to ask if he could pay a
visit.
She accepted, and after he met her, they began
