« Monday, March 25th (1709). This morning I went to
see M. Paul Lucas who was about to head out. I
remained there with M. Hanna, a Maronite from
Aleppo, whom he brought here from Aleppo: and M.
Hanna [told me] a few wonderful Arabian stories,
which he promised me he would write down, so as to
pass them on to me. »
« Saturday, May 25th (1709). The Maronite Hanna
told me the following Arabian story: A Sultan of Persia
named Khosrou-Schah who was still but a prince, and
who was very fond of wandering out at night, for this
reason he would disguise himself so as best to satisfy his
inclination. He had only just ascended to his father’s
throne, etc.»
