And so without further ado, he dropped her into
the pit with nothing but a small table and chair, a
jug of water, and a piece of bread. The next
morning the king and queen came to visit the
newlyweds to wish them the customary “good
morning.”
- Nobody is allowed in, - said the prince, -
because Catarina isn’t feeling well.
Then he opened the trapdoor and asked:
- How was it last night?
- Just fine, nice and cool.
- Have you thought about that slap you gave me?
- You should think about the next one I’ll be
giving you.
