Notwithstanding all those troublesome voices, Prince Bahman
mounted with courage and resolution; but the voices increasing
their noise both behind and before him, at last he was
frightened; his legs trembled under him; he reeled, and
presently found that all his strength and courage failed him: He
forgot the dervise's advice, turned about to run down the hill,
and was that instant changed into a black stone, which
metamorphosis had happened to many more besides him, who
had attempted the same thing. His horse likewise underwent
the same fate._
