Page 13 - La Gatta con gli stivali - Puss in Boots
P. 13
After receiving what she needed, Puss gallantly
pulled on the boots and slung the bag about her
neck. Holding its drawstrings in her forepaws,
she went to a place where there was a great
abundance of hares. She put some bran and
greens into her bag, then stretched herself out as
if she were dead. Puss thus waited for some
young hares, not yet acquainted with the deceits
of the world, to come and look into her bag.
She had scarcely lain down before she had what
she wanted. A rash and foolish young hare
jumped into her bag, and the master cat,
immediately closed the strings, then took and
killed it without pity.
